The Journey of Baba Saheb Ambedkar Yatra

The train, inaugurated on 14th April 2023 on the occasion of Dr Ambedkar's birth anniversary, is planned to tour places of significance related to the life of Baba Saheb Ambedkar . It aims to provide a unique experience for passengers as they explore the areas closely associated with Dr Ambedkar, one of India's most revered figures.

• The Baba Saheb Ambedkar Yatra tour package is managed by IRCTC under the “Dekho Apna Desh” initiative . This initiative aims to showcase prominent sites that played a pivotal role in Dr Bhim Rao Ambedkar's life.
• The Bharat Gaurav tourist train embarks on a 7-night and 8-day journey, beginning its route from Baba Saheb’s birthplace (Bhim Janmabhoomi) in Dr. Ambedkar Nagar (Mhow).
  • From there, the train heads to Nagpur railway station. The passengers then get to explore Deeksha Bhoomi, a significant monument of Navayana Buddhism .
  • The journey continues to Sanchi via Bhopal, where tourists can marvel at the renowned Sanchi Stupa and other Buddhist heritage sites .
  • The train then proceeds to its next stop, Varanasi, offering tourists an opportunity to visit Sarnath and the revered Kashi Vishwanath Temple.

• The launch of Bharat Gaurav Tourist Train aligns with the Government of India's initiative “Dekho Apna Desh” , aimed at promoting special interest circuits in domestic tourism.
  • IRCTC, in collaboration with the Ministry of Tourism, is operating its maiden tour on the Ambedkar circuit , an 8-day special journey from Hazrat Nizamuddin Railway Station, commencing on April 14, 2023.
  • The 'Bharat Gaurav Tourist train' forms part of the 'Dekho Apna Desh' initiative, designed to boost domestic tourism.
  • The Ambedkar Circuit is the fourth special tourist circuit , following the
    • Ramayana Circuit,
    • Buddhist Circuit, and
    • North East Circuit.

This initiative is expected to significantly boost tourism in the areas associated with Dr Ambedkar's life and works.
