Can IAS Officers Have Tattoos That Are Visible?

Tattoos that are visible on exposed body parts are typically not regarded favourably by civil service applicants. The members of the Indian Administrative Services are required to abide by specific Central Civil Services Rules, which hold the recruitment.

  • The IAS officer who has the tattoo presents an unprofessional image of the individual to the public.
  • IAS members should avoid being treated "indecently by a government official" and should cover tattoos on their most exposed body areas.
  • Although there are no explicit regulations on tattoos in the IAS exam 2023, police officers and army personnel are not permitted to enter the relevant department with tattoos on their bodies.
  • Since people from all backgrounds are eligible for the civil service, several famous IAS officers who were previously in the modelling or celebrity industries and had tattoos were also chosen as IAS officers.
