The Nomadic Elephant, an India – Mongolia joint military exercise, was conducted in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia in July 2023. This is just one of the many joint military exercises the Indian army undertakes, the knowledge of which is crucial for the IAS Exam .

India is actively involved in fostering relationships with various countries worldwide. The conduction of joint military exercises is an integral part of this process. Such exercises are not only crucial for economic and diplomatic cooperation but also for the modern battlefield.

The momentum for cooperation in the military field within the Indian armed forces was given a significant boost post-Kargil. The most valuable advantage of joint military exercises is 'strategic signalling'.
