- Rukmani recommends reading NCERT Books from grade 6 to grade 12 and these would build up a base of knowledge for the UPSC exam.
- Another crucial suggestion by Rukmani was to keep up with all the ongoing Current Affairs for UPSC, for which she recommends reading newspapers on a daily basis.
- Appear for mock tests and practice as much as you can by solving previous years’ papers and by analysing your tests.
- Rukmani chose Political Science and Sociology as her optional subjects.

Rukmani Riar says that Revision is the key to score well in GS, in which she made a consistent effort to revise conventional GS at least 4 times before the mains, and also went back to newspaper notes and magazines (marked portions).
