Paper 1- English Literature Paper
Section A Candidates will be required to show adequate knowledge of the following topics and movements:

The Renaissance: Elizabethan and Jacobean Drama; Metaphysical Poetry; The Epic and the Mock-epic; Neoclassicism; Satire; The Romantic Movement; The Rise of the Novel; The VictorianAge.

UPPSC English Literature Exam Pattern

The Prelims Exam is of 400 marks which is qualifying in nature, marks are not calculated for the final merit. For the main exam, all the papers are important, conducted in subjective mode and taken in the merit calculation. The two out of 8 eight papers are optional, individual choice of the candidate.   • There will be two optional papers- English Literature. 
    • Paper 1- English Literature
    • Paper 2- English Literature
  • Both the papers will be of 200 marks each with a duration of 3 hours each. Both will be Descriptive in nature.
