Every year, the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) holds the Civil Services Examination, a nationwide competitive examination in India for recruitment to various Civil Services including the Indian Police Service (IPS), Indian Administrative Service (IAS), and Indian Foreign Service (IFS). Once the final results of the UPSC Civil Services Examination are declared, successful candidates are assigned to their respective services and are sent for training. The IPS officers are trained at the prestigious Sardar Vallabhbhai Police Academy in Hyderabad. The primary objective of the Sardar Vallabhbhai Police Academy is to mould leaders for the Indian Police. The academy provides basic training to Probation Officers, equipping them with the necessary skills, attitudes, and understanding to effectively perform their duties.
