UPPSC Zoology Syllabus & Exam Pattern: Download PDF Here!

The Uttar Pradesh Public Service Commission conducts the UP PCS exam. It is the state administrative services exam to recruit the eligible candidates as Administrative officers in the Uttar Pradesh government departments. All the willing candidates must prepare themselves for the opportunity to grab & to prepare with the best for the exam. Unlike the UPSC Exam, the UPPSC Exam too is conducted in three tiers: Prelims, Mains & Interview.

Here The UPPSC also offers the candidates an opportunity to opt for an Optional Subject out of a list of subjects. As per their interest and convenience Candidates are free to opt the subject. Other six exams remain common for all. The most important is that all the eight papers are taken in account for merit calculation. So, you need to choose wisely!

Paper 1- Zoology Paper

Biochemistry  Structure, classification and biological functions of Carbohydrates, Proteins, Lipids and Nucleic acids, Watson and Crick model of DNA; Genetic code; Protein- biosynthesis; Biological oxidations; High energy compounds; Electron transport chain; Oxidative phosphorylation; Glycolysis and Krebs/TCA cycle; Enzymes- Nomenclature, classification, Factors affecting enzyme activity and mechanism of action, Vitamins- dietary sources, biochemical functions, deficiency symptoms, Hypervitaminosis A; Innate and Aquired immunity; immune cells; Immunoglobulins; cytokines (Interleukins).

UPPSC Zoology Exam Pattern

The Prelims Exam is of 400 marks and qualifying in nature. For the main exam, all the papers are important and conducted in subjective mode. Total of 8 eight papers out of two are optional. Check the exam pattern below:-

  • There will be two optional papers- Zoology. 
    • Paper 1 – Non Chordata, Chordata, Ecology, Ethology, Biostatistics and Economic Zoology.
    • Paper 2 – Cell Biology, Genetics, Evolution and Systematics, Biochemistry, Physiology and Developmental Biology.
  • Both optional is of 200 marks each with a duration of 3 hours each. And most importantly descriptive in nature.
