Notably, the All India Rank 1 was secured by Shakti Dubey from Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh, representing the state's continued prominence in producing successful UPSC aspirants. Uttar Pradesh's consistent performance can be attributed to its robust educational infrastructure, alongside a cultural emphasis on Civil Services as a prestigious career. Following Uttar Pradesh, a total of 57 candidates have qualified the UPSC Civil Services 2024 from Tamil Nadu, while there are 3 IAS aspirants from Bihar who have made it to the list of top 20 UPSC Toppers.

  • In 2017 UPSC, Bihar produced 12 IAS officers
  • In UPSC 2017, Tamil Nadu produced 8 IAS officers
  • The state of Karnataka produced 6 officers in the IAS cadre in UPSC 2017
  • Jammu & Kashmir produced 3 IAS officers in the 2015 UPSC exam
  • 1 IAS officer cleared the UPSC 2015 for the state of Himachal Pradesh
  • Uttarakhand produced 4 IAS officers in 2015 while Punjab produced 7
  • Haryana produced a total of 15 IAS officers in the 2017 UPSC exam while it was 19 for the state of Rajasthan.

Civil Services State-wise Selection of Candidates Trends

The highest number of successful aspirants in UPSC CSE 2024 are from the state of Uttar Pradesh. In the year of 2017-18 there were 17 aspirants from Delhi and 12 from Bihar who got selected to the Indian Administrative Services. The state of Tamil Nadu had around 8 and Karnataka had approx 6 all of whom had produced more officers than the city.   • Delhi achieved the foremost spot indicating that most candidates move to Delhi to appear for the UPSC civil services.
