Key Aspects of India’s International Relations

1. India's foreign affairs are managed by a dedicated ministry known as the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA).
2. The current Minister of External Affairs, S.Jaishankar, has been serving since 31st May 2019.
3. India is a proud member of the Commonwealth of Nations .
4. According to the MEA, there are approximately 12.6 million non-resident Indians (NRIs) residing in over 200 countries worldwide.
5. The Indian Foreign Service Exam is a dedicated examination for recruiting candidates to serve in foreign services.
6. The Foreign Secretary of India, currently Harsh V Shringla since 29th January 2020, heads all Indian ambassadors and high commissioners.
