The Island Development Agency (IDA) is an organization established under the Ministry of Home Affairs. The agency's Sixth meeting, chaired by the Union Home Minister, was recently held in New Delhi.

The Union Home Minister, Shri Amit Shah, chaired the sixth meeting of the IDA on January 13, 2020. The meeting was primarily focused on reviewing the progress of the "Holistic development of islands" program.
Some key initiatives discussed during the meeting included the promotion of sustainable development goals on the identified Islands, job creation through tourism and seafood exports, and infrastructure development in Andaman & Nicobar and Lakshadweep islands.
The meeting also addressed connectivity plans, such as improving sea and air connectivity with the islands, digital connectivity through submarine optical fibre cable, and the promotion of IT-based and other MSMEs in the islands.
