The National Testing Agency conducts the University Grants Commission’s National Eligibility Test also called the NTA UGC NET biannually. The UGC NET is conducted for 82 subjects, German being one among them. Candidates who qualify for this national-level examination, get the chance to apply for the posts of Junior Research Fellow and Assistant Professor in various institutions. From June 2019 onwards the exam pattern has been updated and Paper III has been removed. Only two papers are evaluated now - Paper I (compulsory for all) and Paper II (as selected by the candidates).
- Paper II of the UGC NET German examination will have 100 questions.
- The examination is conducted in Computer Based Mode since June 2019.
- Some of the important units mentioned in the UGC NET German syllabus are- Sprachkönnen, Sprachgebrauch, Sprachkompetenz, Literatur, Literaturgeschichte etc.
- In June 2019, the cutoff for JRF & Assistant Professor was 68.00 whereas for Assistant Professor only, the cutoff was 64.67.
- In June 2018, the cutoff for JRF & Assistant Professor was more compared to June 2019 i.e. it was 70.67. For Assistant Professor only, it was 64.00, which was a little less compared to June 2019.
- The UGC NET cutoff depends highly on the number of candidates appearing in the examination and the difficulty level of the paper.

UGC NET German Syllabus Paper II

UGC NET German Paper II Exam Pattern
There are two papers in the UGC NET German examination-
- Paper I - General Paper on Teaching and Research Aptitude
- Paper II - German
The examination will be conducted in the Computer Based Test mode and the duration is 3 hours. There is no break between the two papers. 100 multiple choice questions of 2 marks each will be asked in the UGC NET German Paper II.

UGC NET German Paper II Marking Scheme
Apart from the UGC NET German syllabus and exam pattern for paper II, knowledge of the marking scheme is equally important. Candidates need to know how their answers are evaluated by the authorities. They need to mark only option as there answer.
- For each correct response, a candidate receives a mark of 2.
- No marks will be deducted for wrong answers.

UGC NET German Paper II Minimum Qualifying Marks
