Paper 1 – Computer Science
Algorithms and Problem solving : Number systems and Arithmetic : Theory of Counting : Graphs and Algorithms : Boolean Algebra : Models of Computer Machines : Numerical Algorithms : Operations Research : Circuit and Network Theory : Basic Electronics : Instruments : Digital Logic and Systems : Data Communication : Data Structure.
Paper 2- Computer Science
Operating System : System Analysis and Design : Object oriented Programming, Computer Architecture and Organization : Micro Processor : Computer Networks : Database Management : Assembler, Loader and Linker : Compiler : Graphics and Multimedia.

WBCS Computer Science Exam Pattern
Candidates who will be appearing for the exam must be aware of the complete WBCS Civil Services Computer Science syllabus beforehand. The preliminary exam will be a qualifying exam to check the aptitude of the candidates. It is qualifying in nature.
Candidates who will be appearing for the Main Examination
- A total of 6 compulsory subjects and one optional subject consisting of two papers.
- Four of them will be MCQ
- Two others will be descriptive papers.
- Each paper will be of 200 marks and for a duration of 3 hours.
