The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) conducts the Combined Graduate Level (CGL) Exam in two stages – Tier 1 and Tier 2. The SSC CGL Exam Pattern 2025 evaluates candidates’ reasoning, quantitative, English, and general awareness skills. While Tier 1 is qualifying in nature, Tier 2 is considered for final selection. SSC CGL Tier 1 Exam Pattern 2025

The SSC CGL Tier 1 exam is the first stage of the selection process and functions as a qualifying round. While the marks obtained in this stage are not considered in the final merit list, candidates must score above the cut-off to advance to Tier 2.

  • The Tier 1 exam consists of a total of 100 multiple-choice questions.
  • These questions are divided equally into four sections: General Intelligence & Reasoning, General Awareness, Quantitative Aptitude, and English Comprehension.
  • Each section includes 25 questions, contributing to the overall total of 100 questions.
  • The maximum marks for the Tier 1 exam are 200, with each question carrying 2 marks.
  • The total time duration to complete the exam is 60 minutes (1 hour).
  • There is a negative marking of 0.50 marks for every incorrect answer, so candidates should answer carefully.

SSC CGL Tier 2 Exam Pattern 2025

The SSC CGL Tier 2 exam is the main stage of the recruitment process and plays a crucial role in final selection. It consists of two papers, Paper 1 is compulsory for all candidates, while Paper 2 is only for those applying for the Junior Statistical Officer (JSO) post.
