SSC CHSL Paper Pattern
The SSC CHSL exam pattern is divided into three sections i.e tier 1, tier 2 and tier 3. A detailed description of the exam pattern has been mentioned below.
SSC CHSL Paper Pattern for Tier 1
Check the following details to know about the Tier- 1 SSC CHSL Selection Process. The Tier-1 exam contains multiple-choice questions (objective).
- Both Hindi and English will be used as the language of the exam.
- Each accurate response will earn the candidate two points, while each erroneous response will result in a deduction of 0.50 points.
- There will be 200 points total in Tier 1.
- Candidates have a maximum of one hour to finish the test.

SSC CHSL Exam Pattern for Tier 2
Tier II will be descriptive in nature that comprises a total of 100 Marks with a duration of one hour. The exam will be conducted in Pen and Paper Mode
- Tier-II will be held in two sessions - Session –I & Session II, on the same day. Session-I will include conducting Section-I, Section II and Module-I of Section III. Session II will include conducting Module II of Section III.
- It will be mandatory for the candidates to qualify for all Tier-II sections.
- Tier II will consist of Objective Type, Multiple choice questions, except for Module II of Section III. The questions will be set in English and Hindi except for Module II (i.e. English Language and Comprehension module) in Section II.
- There will be a negative marking of 1 mark for each wrong answer in Section-I, Section II and Module-I of Section III. Candidates are, therefore, advised to keep this in mind while answering the questions.
- Module-I of Section-III i.e. Computer Knowledge Test is mandatory but qualifying in nature.
- Skill Test/ Typing Test will be of qualifying nature.
- Part A - Skill Test for the post of DEO/ DEO Grade 'A’: ‘Data Entry Speed of 8,000 (Eight Thousand) Key Depressions per hour on Computer’ will be adjudged on the basis of the correct entry of words/ key depressions as per the given passage.
- Part B - Typing Test for other posts i.e. LDC/ JSA: Candidates opting for English medium should have a typing speed of 35 words per minute (w.p.m.) and those opting for Hindi medium should have a typing speed of 30 words per minute (w.p.m.). 35 w.p.m. and 30 w.p.m. correspond to about 10500 key depressions per hour and about 9000 key depressions per hour respectively.
