BPSC Philosophy Syllabus 2023

To start the preparation right away, the candidates must check the BPSC Philosophy optional subject. The philosophy syllabus for BPSC main exam is mentioned below:

BPSC Philosophy Syllabus 
Section – I Metaphysics and Epistemology Candidate will be expected to be familiar with theories types of Epistemology and metaphysics – India and Western – with special reference to the following (a) Western – Idealism; Realism; Absolutism Empiricism Rationalism; Logilca ‘I’ Positivism; Analysis; Phenomenology; Existentialism and pragmatism. (b) India- Pramanans and pranaya; Theories of Truth and error, philosophy of language and meaning; Theories of reality with reference to the main system (Orthodox and Heterodox) of Philosophy.
Section- II

 

Socio political philosophy and philosophy of Religion

  • Nature of philosophy, its relation to life, thought and culture.
  • The following topics with special reference to the Indian context including Indian Constitution:-
  • Political Ideologies; Democracy, Socialism, Fascism, Theocracy, Communism and Sarvodaya.
  • Methods of Political Action: Constitutionalism, Revolution, Terrorism and Satyagraha.
  • 3. Tradition, change and modernity with reference to Indian social Institutions.
  • Philosophy of Religious language and meaning.
  • Nature and scope of philosophy of religion. Philosophy of religion with special reference to Buddhism,
  • Jainism, Hinduism, Islam ,Christianity and Sikhism.
    • Theology and philosophy of Religion.
    • Foundations of religious belief, Reason Revelation Faith and Mysticism.
    • God Immortality of Soul, Liberation and Problem of Evil and sin.
    • Equality, Unity and universality of Religions; Religious Tolerance; Conversion Secularism.
  • Moksha – Paths leading to Moksha.

BPSC Philosophy Exam Pattern 2023

Knowing the Exam Pattern is essential for the BPSC aspirants. The candidates will be able to prepare accordingly by knowing the exam pattern beforehand.

The first stage, the preliminary exam, will consist of only 1 paper, General Studies which will be qualifying in nature. The test takers do not need to worry about the negative marking because no marks will be deducted for wrong answers. Total marks for the preliminary exam will be 150 marks.

The next stage, the main exam will consist of 1 General Hindi, 2 papers of General Studies, and 1 optional paper. The combined score for all papers will be 900 marks. The candidates will be given 3 hours per paper. The candidates can attempt the main exam in Hindi, English or Urdu, as per their personal preference.

How to Prepare for the BPSC Philosophy Optional Subject?

To score the maximum marks, the candidates must follow the following preparation tips listed below:

  • Time management is of the essence. The candidates must prepare a study routine that will enable them to cover the entire syllabus for all the papers.
  • Writing practice essays is the best tactic to practice for the long questions asked in the exam. The candidates should set a time to complete the practice essays.
